Bennd's Tips For Ayurvedic Travel

· ·

Summer travels make for unforgettable experiences to carry with us and reflect on all year long. The longer days and warmer evenings inspire us to break out of the mold, explore new places, and indulge in new experiences and cultures. While traveling can truly be one of life's greatest joys, doing so with our well-being at the top of mind can make the experience that much more fulfilling. Prioritizing feeling our best mind, body, and spirit may not come the easiest in the midst of exploring a new place, so we've compiled some of our simplest and most effective Ayurvedic tips for travel.

Keep your Agni Warm

Flying, long travel days, and eating food on the go can create excess air and cold qualities in our system. This can cause constipation, bloating, abdominal discomfort, and a general sense of feeling ungrounded. While traveling, prioritize keeping your Agni warm and ready to go by only sipping warm or room temperature drinks, eating warm and well-cooked foods, avoiding caffeine, and consuming digestive stimulating spices like ginger and coriander.

Bring a Mala

Carrying a mala with you is an excellent option to easily ground down and connect to yourself no matter where you are. Bennd's malas are made with healing crystals and infused with Ayurvedic herbs to keep your energy clear and mind calm. Carry one of the malas from Bennd's Mala Collection with you while you travel. If you're on a plane or want to reset your energy after a day of exploring, try a mala meditation with an affirmation that's meaningful to you.

Carry Essential oils

Whether you want to clear your mind or keep your health in tip-top shape during your summer holiday, carrying essential oils with you while you travel is never a bad idea. For mental ease and effective treatment for minor cuts and wounds, carry lavender or chamomile essential oils with you in your carry-on.

Ground down

Taking time to ground down and warm up your body is extremely important to avoid jet lag and settle excess Vata after a long trip. A foot massage with warm sesame oil is an excellent way to calm and ground your mind and body. Pack a small container of sesame oil with you during your travels. At the end of a long travel day, apply a generous amount directly to the soles of your feel. Option to warm the oil up and add a couple of drops of essential oils to the mixture. When you're finished, put on socks for the remainder of the night and take them off when you wake up.

Bennd on the Go

Prioritizing movement during your travels is an essential part of taking care of your mind and body while exploring new places. Make it a point to roll out your mat when you can, even if it's just for a few minutes a day. Bennd mats are made with organic cotton and fold to easily fit in any suitcase. They also come with over-the-shoulder travel bags so you can carry them with you wherever you go.
