Bennd's Holistic Tips For an Excellent Nights Sleep
A good night of sleep is crucial to maintaining a healthy mind and body. Unfortunately, between technology and balancing life in our busy world, many of us find ourselves tossing and turning throughout the night, pining over a good night's rest. Fortunately, various natural remedies are available to bring you the kind of deep sleep you deserve. So read on to take the next step toward the sleep of your dreams.
Limit Blue Light Exposure
Limiting your exposure to blue light is essential in the hours leading up to your bedtime. Blue light can stimulate the brain and make it very hard to catch the proper z's. So throw on blue light glasses and put the phone away. If watching a show in the evening is your go-to way to unwind, try opting for a good book or watching your evening episode earlier.
Watch Your Caffeine Intake
Caffeine may be everyone's favorite stimulant, but it doesn't make for a night of deep sleep. Limiting our caffeine intake, in general, can be highly beneficial to the health of our bodies and minds, especially if you have trouble sleeping. Cut down on your two coffees and make it one, or opt for decaf if you're still finding yourself staring at the ceiling at night. Try to finish all caffeine consumption by 2 pm to set yourself up for an optimal night of sleep.
Calm Your Nervous System and Recenter
Carving out time before your head hits the pillow to calm and center your mind can be incredibly helpful in falling and staying asleep. Practices like meditation, pranayama, and restorative yoga can help us shake off the day and slow down our busy minds.
Try rolling out your Bennd mat and setting up your pranayama pillow vertically down the center. Place the pillow at the base of your spine and lie down on it with the soles of your feet together and knees out wide for a reclined butterfly pose. Practice breathing in for seven counts and out for eight. Focus on the sensation of your breath to relax the body and calm the mind. Do this for up to ten minutes before slowly transitioning into bed.
Take Ayurvedic Herbs
If you're still craving some added assistance slowing down the mind, Ayurvedic herbs are here to help. Try taking Ashwagandha, Brahmi, or Tulsi in capsule form. Tulsi also makes for a delicious tea to sip before going to sleep.
In addition, all Bennd products are infused and dyed with 22 Ayurvedic herbs. Designed so we absorb these herbs through our skin through skin as we practice. So opt for a Bennd yoga mat or cushion to add relaxing benefits to your pre-rest reset.
Ground your Body and Mind
To offset the Vata energy that can keep us awake during the night, prioritize grounding and warming practices. Some of these grounding rituals may include rubbing sesame oil on the crown of your head and soles of your feet or taking a warm bath. By implementing these routines, we are preparing the mind and calming the body for pure sleep bliss.
The Bottom Line
Sleep is sacred, and we all deserve a nourishing night of rest. So try implementing these practices and brushing up on your sleep hygiene to set yourself up for success when your head hits the pillow.
